CECA launches digital addiction prevention program for students in Querétaro

The State Council Against Addictions (CECA), under the Ministry of Health, has launched a digital addiction prevention program targeting more than 2,400 student leaders in Querétaro, Mexico.

The initiative focuses on students from the 61 campuses of the Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Querétaro (COBAQ) and the Distance Higher Secondary Education Centers (EMSAD). Through the Peace Clubs model, trained student leaders will replicate the knowledge they acquire with their peers to promote healthy digital environments.

Specialists from CECA are providing tools to help adolescents recognize warning signs, identify risk factors associated with the excessive use of electronic devices and social media, and establish healthy boundaries. The program aims to encourage a balance between screen time and essential activities such as family interaction, schoolwork, physical exercise, and in-person social engagement.
