Cecil Peoples releases autobiography on combat sports career

Combat sports pioneer and former UFC referee Cecil Peoples has released his debut autobiography, titled ‘Walking the Warrior’s Path’. The memoir details his life journey from picking cotton in Alabama to becoming a prominent figure in kickboxing and mixed martial arts.

Peoples was a key figure in the transition from traditional tournament point-fighting to full-contact karate and professional kickboxing during the 1960s and 1970s. He is noted for blending Hawaiian Kenpo with boxing mechanics and intense conditioning, helping to establish professional standards for future martial artists.

Following his championship fighting career, Peoples served as a high-level official for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Muay Thai, and various mixed martial arts bouts globally. He was inducted into the Martial Arts History Museum’s Hall of Fame in 2003.
