Cecilia Suárez to star in theatrical adaptation of ‘El invencible verano de Liliana’

Mexican actress Cecilia Suárez will star in the theatrical adaptation of ‘El invencible verano de Liliana’, based on the book by Pulitzer Prize winner Cristina Rivera Garza. The play reconstructs the life and death of Liliana Rivera Garza, who was murdered by her ex-partner in 1990, using personal archives, diaries, and letters to move beyond mere statistics and restore her individual identity.

The production, adapted by Amaranta Osorio and directed by Juan Carlos Fisher, is part of an international tour. Scheduled performances include León and Guanajuato in December 2025, and a run in Lima, Peru, at the Teatro NOS PUCP from January 28 to 31, 2027. The work serves as a reflection on violence against women and the process of mourning and justice.
