Cecilia Vega alleges CBS pressured 60 Minutes to add political bias
Former 60 Minutes correspondent Cecilia Vega said CBS News executives urged her to insert political bias into several segments. She recounted being told to include footage of protesters attacking ICE agents – footage that did not exist – and to report unverified comments by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey about local police confronting federal immigration agents. Vega also said she was pressured to interview JD Vance for a piece on West Virginia poverty and to feature commentary on the Trump administration’s SNAP cuts.
Vega was dismissed from CBS in the spring. She expressed concern for the flagship newsmagazine’s future after a leadership overhaul that placed Bari Weiss, a longtime critic of liberal institutions, as editor‑in‑chief under Paramount CEO David Ellison. A CBS spokesperson rejected Vega’s allegations, stating they were not based in reality.
