Cecily Tynan retires from 6abc after 30-year career
Cecily Tynan, the Chief Meteorologist for Philadelphia’s 6abc Action News, has retired after more than 30 years with the station. Following her final forecast, colleagues and station leadership held a celebration to honor her career.
Tynan’s tenure included providing critical weather coverage for major events such as Hurricane Sandy, the Blizzard of 1996, tornadoes, and historic floods. During the retirement celebration, 6abc President and General Manager John Morris and ABC Owned Television Stations President Chad Matthews praised her dedication to viewers and her ability to provide essential information during severe weather.
Tynan announced her retirement plans in late July, stating she wished to spend more time with her family and traveling. Her final broadcast aired during the 6 pm newscast on August 31.
