CECOED Durazno celebrates 20 years of emergency management

The Departmental Emergency Coordination Center (CECOED) of Durazno celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 23. As a pioneer in integral risk management and emergency coordination in Uruguay, the organization was honored by both national and departmental authorities.

The celebration took place at the agency’s new facilities, which include meeting rooms, storage space, public service offices, and workspaces. Durazno Intendant Felipe Algorta Brit noted that the relocation to the new building was intended to expand and strengthen the organization's capabilities. He also mentioned the upcoming addition of a Ceibal Laboratory to the site.

Alejandro Sánchez, Secretary of the Presidency, highlighted the agency's long history, noting that Uruguay has learned significant lessons through the evolution of emergency management over the last two decades. Leandro Palomeque, director of the National Emergency System (Sinae), also recognized the members of the Departmental Emergency Committee for their contributions to consolidating the center's operations.
