Cecytem students win international science prize in Colombia
Students from the Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Michoacán (Cecytem), Puruándiro campus, won first place in the Biotechnology and Agricultural Sciences category at the 2026 Master College International Science, Technology, and Innovation Fair in Valledupar, Colombia.
The winning project, titled ‘Actiplus’, was developed by students Ramces Acosta Baca, Cristóbal Daniel Zavala Chávez, and Álvaro Andrés Recio Valdez under the guidance of instructor Javier Arián Orozco Alfaro. The project focuses on utilizing beneficial microorganisms to strengthen agricultural practices.
The international competition featured over 200 research projects from students representing Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, and Chile.
