Cedar Hill suspect dies after customer shoots alleged bank robber

An alleged armed robber died following a confrontation at a Chase Bank in Cedar Hill, Texas, on the morning of August 31, 2026. According to the Cedar Hill Police Department, a suspect entered the bank in the 200 block of N. Hwy. 67 Service Road armed with a knife and demanded money from employees.

During the robbery, an armed customer discharged a firearm, striking the suspect. The suspect fled the building but was located nearby by responding officers. Although medics performed life-saving measures and transported the individual to a local hospital, the suspect later died.

The customer who fired the weapon remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Police reported that no shots were fired by officers and no significant injuries were reported among bank employees, customers, or witnesses. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been notified and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
