Cedar Point closes Millennium Force roller coaster after part detaches

The Millennium Force roller coaster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, has been shut down indefinitely after a metal bracket detached from a ride vehicle during operation. The component fell into an area accessible to guests, but park officials confirmed that no visitors or staff members were struck and no injuries were reported.

The ride was immediately halted following the malfunction. It will remain closed pending an internal review and inspections by state officials, such as the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Division of Amusement Ride Safety.

This incident follows recent safety concerns at Six Flags Entertainment Corp. properties, which recently merged with Cedar Fair. This follows a fatal accident at Six Flags Over Georgia involving the “Goliath” coaster, where a guest was killed and four children were injured.
