CEDEC 2026 panel addresses working parent challenges in game industry
At CEDEC 2026, industry veterans held a panel discussion titled ‘Working Parents’ Ways of Working and Concerns 2026’ to address the challenges of dual-income households within the game industry.
Panelists from Sega Sammy Holdings, SEGA, and Elinks Co., Ltd. discussed personal and professional struggles. A survey of 145 respondents, mostly working parents in their 40s, identified remote work restrictions, overtime, and division of household chores as the top three challenges.
The discussion covered diverse topics, including managing communication with adolescent children, the logistical difficulties of preparing school lunches, and supporting children facing school refusal. Participants emphasized the need for flexible remote work policies and better team support to balance career and family life.
