Cedi Osman signs three-year deal with PAOK from Panathinaikos
Turkish basketball player Cedi Osman has signed a three-year contract with PAOK, moving from Panathinaikos. The transfer involved a buyout fee of approximately two million euros paid to Panathinaikos, while Osman is set to receive a total of nine million euros over the duration of his new deal.
Osman explained that while he had one year remaining on his contract with Panathinaikos, negotiations with Turkish clubs Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahçe did not materialize because of the high buyout fee requested by the Greek club. He noted that as he was not a free agent, he could not personally negotiate a lower fee to facilitate a move to a EuroLeague team.
Regarding his departure from Panathinaikos, Osman expressed gratitude for his two years with the club but mentioned feeling a lack of desire to keep him in the roster during discussions. He stated he is highly motivated by PAOK’s project, which includes competing in the EuroCup with the ultimate goal of reaching the EuroLeague under coach Andrea Trinchieri.
