Cedric Alexander captures TNA X‑Division Championship ahead of Slammiversary

Former WWE cruiserweight Cedric Alexander joined TNA Wrestling and, on the May 14 edition of IMPACT, ended Leon Slater’s 298‑day reign to become the new X‑Division Champion. Alexander said the title “means everything that wrestling is today” and praised its pioneers such as AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels.

He also noted that his move from WWE’s NXT, where he felt “not important,” to TNA gave him a clear role within the faction known as “The System.” Alexander is set to defend the championship in an Ultimate X match at the upcoming Slammiversary event, a signature TNA showdown.

The champion highlighted the match’s unique format—cables suspended across the ring instead of ladders—and expressed confidence that he will succeed in the high‑risk contest.
