Sparta Rotterdam signs Cedric Hatenboer in record transfer

Sparta Rotterdam has completed the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Cedric Hatenboer from RSC Anderlecht. The transfer, reportedly worth approximately one million euros plus bonuses, represents a record purchase for the Rotterdam-based club.

Hatenboer, a former Sparta youth player, returns to the club after stints at Excelsior, Anderlecht, and a recent loan spell at Telstar, where he made 17 appearances and provided four assists. He has signed a contract that runs until mid-2030.

Technical Director Gerard Nijkamp noted that the club had long targeted Hatenboer to strengthen the midfield. Hatenboer revealed that he personally handled the negotiations for the deal without an agent, stating that the arrangement felt better for him personally.
