Electoral bodies in Mexico and Dominican Republic prepare for upcoming cycles

Various electoral bodies in Mexico and the Dominican Republic are advancing administrative and budgetary preparations for upcoming cycles.

In Mexico, several state electoral institutes have approved budget proposals for the 2027 fiscal year. The Instituto Electoral del Estado de México (IEEM) is requesting approximately 3.99 billion pesos to cover elections and political party financing. In Guanajuato, the IEEG approved a 1.27 billion peso draft budget. Meanwhile, the CEEPAC in Campeche has approved a budget project totaling 763 million pesos when including political party financing. Additionally, the IEEC in Campeche is redistributing 32.5 million pesos among political parties following a court ruling, and the INE has notified citizens in Campeche to collect pending voting credentials.

In the Dominican Republic, the Junta Central Electoral (JCE) reported that it has delivered over 4 million new identity and electoral cards. President Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo warned citizens that the old format will no longer be accepted starting April 1, 2027, and urged those eligible to complete the renewal process early to avoid long queues.
