Tim Wellens wins Tour of Britain 2026 general classification

Tim Wellens of UAE Emirates XRG has won the 2026 Tour of Britain general classification. The Belgian cyclist secured the overall victory following a dominant performance by his team throughout the race.

In the final stage held in Earlston, Nils Politt won the individual stage after attacking with approximately eight kilometers remaining. Politt finished ahead of Florian Vermeersch and Filippo Ganna. The final stage was characterized by tactical maneuvering and wind conditions that prevented a traditional mass sprint.

Earlier in the race, Cees Bol of Decathlon CMA CGM won the fourth stage in Leyburn, surviving difficult climbs in the Yorkshire Dales. Other notable stage winners during the event included Lewis Askey, Tim Merlier, and Olav Kooij. Wellens' overall victory follows a series of strong performances, including taking the leader's jersey during the penultimate stage.
