Cefalù hosts exhibition dedicated to archaeologist Amedeo Tullio

An exhibition dedicated to the life and research of archaeologist Amedeo Tullio is being held at Osterio Magno in Cefalù. The event, titled ‘Cefalù archeologica. Le città sotto la città. Amedeo Tullio, gli studi e la ricerca archeologica’, showcases a significant selection of artifacts, many of which are being displayed to the public for the first time.

Promoted by the Archeoclub d’Italia and the Soprintendenza for Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Palermo, the exhibition commemorates fifty years since Tullio’s first publication on pre-Norman Cefalù. Featured items include a collection of Punic coins from the late 4th century BC found within Osterio Magno, as well as red-figure pottery fragments and loom weights from a site in vicolo Purgatorio.

Sicilian Councilor for Cultural Heritage, Francesco Paolo Scarpinato, stated that the exhibition serves as a preliminary step toward establishing a dedicated archaeological museum in Cefalù, a goal long advocated by Tullio to preserve and promote the city’s rich historical heritage.
