Ceiling collapse in Düsseldorf hotel injures two

A large suspended ceiling collapsed in a hotel lounge in the Düsseldorf-Rath district on a Tuesday afternoon, covering an area of approximately 400 square meters. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM, involving a massive water leak that required emergency services to pump out accumulated water.

Two workers were present in the affected area at the time of the collapse. Emergency responders rescued both individuals from the building, and one was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Approximately 70 emergency personnel were deployed to the scene. To prevent further damage, authorities shut off water and electricity in the impacted zone. While guests were required to evacuate the building during the operation, the hotel remains structurally sound and operational, with the affected rooms deemed habitable.
