Celaya police probe child’s explosive death and separate homicide of senior woman

In Celaya, a child known locally as "Pepito" died after an explosive device detonated in the Privada del Real residential area. Municipal Police Director Bernardo Rafael Cajero Reyes urged parents to closely supervise children and avoid handling objects found in public spaces. The municipal government approved funeral expenses and the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) is reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses to identify the source of the device.

Later the same day, authorities discovered the body of an elderly woman in the La Suiza colony on Antonio Rábago Street. The scene showed signs of violence and disorder, leading investigators to consider robbery as a possible motive. Police, the National Guard and federal agencies secured the area, and the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) together with forensic experts from the FGE began processing the crime scene to locate perpetrators.
