Colombian football legend Carlos ‘El Pibe’ Valderrama has surprised fans by shaving off his iconic curly hair, a signature look that defined his career and identity for decades. In a video shared on social media, Valderrama is seen undergoing the transformation with the help of his wife, Elvira Redondo, who used clippers to shave his head completely.

The radical change has sparked significant discussion online. While many fans expressed nostalgia for his trademark blonde curls, others reacted with humor, with Redondo jokingly referring to him as ‘Valderrama Careca’ (Bald Valderrama). The former midfielder expressed satisfaction with the result, stating, ‘Se ve bacano’ (It looks cool).

The sudden change led some social media users to speculate whether the video was real or generated by artificial intelligence, given how much the hair was associated with his persona. However, former teammate René Higuita and other public figures have since offered their support and praise for the new look. Valderrama, a three-time World Cup veteran and former captain of the Colombian national team, has not provided a specific reason for the change, though he had previously hinted that a transformation might be coming.
