Celebrity children adopt new stage names to build independent identities
Several daughters of famous figures in the entertainment industry have chosen to adopt unique stage names that omit their family surnames to establish independent artistic identities. Artists such as LARA, Tontom, Cleo, Anttónia, and Maria Maud have opted to use only their first names or entirely new identities to ensure they are recognized for their own work rather than their lineage.
LARA, the 25-year-old daughter of presenter Fausto Silva and Magda Colares, originally known as Lara Silva, chose to debut her music career under a single name. She expressed a desire to build her own legacy and preferred to enter the public eye only after having established her own professional work. Similarly, Tontom, daughter of actress Heloísa Périssé and director Mauro Farias, transitioned from using her mother's surname in theater and film to a distinct musical identity that gained traction with the viral song ‘Tontom Perigosa’.
Other notable examples include Wanessa, who at one stage of her career removed the Camargo surname, though she maintains her family connections.
