Haluk Levent and Ahbap Derneği investigation sees arrests and celebrity donations disclosed

Istanbul prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into Ahbap Derneği, the charity founded by singer Haluk Levent. The probe has led to the detention of 28 people, including Levent and media figure Oğuzhan Uğur, and a total of 54 suspects overall, with roughly 70 complainants identified. The investigation focuses on alleged misuse of disaster‑relief donations and money‑laundering, and the financial records of the charity show large flows of money – Zafer Yay’s accounts alone recorded 1.46 billion TL in inflows and 1.53 billion TL in outflows.

A list of high‑profile donors has been released. Footballers Cengiz Ünder and Çağlar Söyüncü each contributed 2,692,515 TL. Media entrepreneur Acun Ilıcalı supplied 100 trucks of water and goods worth 5 million TL. Other celebrities – actors, singers and athletes – gave between 100 000 TL and 1 million TL each, with total donations reaching billions of Turkish lira. The investigation also uncovered numerous past criminal records for senior Ahbap officials, and estimates that the combined banking transactions of key figures total about 10 billion TL.
