Celebrity guests and themed programs drive interest in cruise travel
Cruise lines are increasingly utilizing celebrity ambassadors and themed programming to attract passengers. Recently, tennis star Jannik Sinner appeared on the Explora II during a voyage between Genoa and Marseille to promote a wellness collaboration with Explora Journeys. His appearances included a charity gala, a Q&A session, and private coaching for select guests.
Beyond major musical stars, several cruise lines offer specialized themed experiences. Cunard hosts an annual “Literature Festival at Sea,” which will feature authors such as Alexander McCall Smith, Pam Ayres, and Fern Britton for a November 2026 sailing from New York. Seabourn utilizes its “Seabourn Conversations” program to host artists, scientists, and performers, including a former fighter pilot and an Academy Award-winning sound producer scheduled for 2027.
