Celeste Polzonetti honored in Serra de’ Conti after Mediterranean Games gold

The town of Serra de’ Conti held a reception to honor Celeste Polzonetti following her gold medal victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto. Polzonetti, a 20-year-old athlete from Desio and a student at UCLA, secured the gold on August 31 with a time of 12.75 seconds, finishing ahead of fellow Italian Elena Carraro.

Polzonetti’s 2026 season has included several notable achievements, such as setting the second-fastest Italian time ever (12.74), winning silver at the NCAA Championships, and securing both the Italian absolute and Under 23 titles.

During the ceremony in the town council chamber, Polzonetti was received by Mayor Silvano Simonetti, local administration representatives, and community members. The event celebrated her success and her family’s deep roots in Serra de’ Conti.
