Celestia Fibre achieves 3.07 Tb/s in data-availability benchmark
Celestia has reported that its Fibre data-availability system achieved an average throughput of 3.07 terabits per second (Tb/s) during a 143-second experimental benchmark. The test was conducted across 120 validators, covering the full pipeline of encoding, distribution, storage, validator signatures, and onchain commitment submissions.
During the test, the system reached peak performance intervals of 3.69 Tb/s over 60 seconds and 4.27 Tb/s over 30 seconds. The benchmark utilized 2-gigabyte blobs, whereas the initial mainnet release is expected to have a smaller cap of 128 megabytes per blob. Based on the volume of data moved, the team estimated the throughput is equivalent to nearly 2 billion transactions per second, though this is a data volume estimate rather than a count of processed transactions.
Celestia emphasizes that these results are from a controlled engineering benchmark designed to test extreme throughput requirements and do not represent live mainnet traffic or current economic activity. The Fibre system is intended to assist rollups by providing a method to publish data necessary for verification as blockchains increasingly separate execution from data availability.
