Celinés Toribio debuts as director with “La Novia del Atlántico”

Actress Celinés Toribio has made her directorial debut with the film “La Novia del Atlántico,” a drama produced by Esencia Films. The film was officially presented during a press conference in Santo Domingo, with a national release scheduled for November 26.

The plot follows Laura, a woman returning to her hometown of Puerto Plata from New York, who discovers that her friend Evelyn is experiencing domestic violence. Alongside a determined journalist named Miguelina, Laura initiates a movement to support Evelyn, a cause that eventually involves the wider community. Toribio stated that the film was born from a desire to use cinema to address realities that often remain silent, specifically questioning how people respond when they discover the suffering of those close to them.
