Celje Police seize 99 motorcycles and mopeds for violations

Police in the Celje region of Slovenia have seized 99 motorcycles and mopeds this year due to various traffic violations. The seizures primarily occurred during the summer months.

Of the total vehicles confiscated, 57 were taken from drivers operating without valid licenses, and 42 were seized because they had undergone illegal modifications that allowed them to exceed speed limits. In one recent incident in Prebold, officers stopped a rider of a modified, unregistered moped without insurance and without a valid license. The driver faces potential fines of up to 2,500 euros, and authorities have proposed the destruction of the vehicle.

Law enforcement officials noted an increasing trend in bold and dangerous behavior among riders of these vehicles, including the intentional use of unregistered and technically non-compliant machinery. Police have pledged to increase surveillance on motorcycles, mopeds, and e-scooters to ensure road safety.
