Celle fire brigade rescues four raccoons from chimney
On Sunday, the volunteer fire brigade of Celle responded to a call in the Vorwerk district after reports that a marten had fallen into a chimney. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered four raccoons trapped inside the chimney pipe. The rescue operation required additional crews and special equipment, including a maintenance hatch and an aerial ladder, and lasted approximately four hours. After the animals were safely extracted, they were handed over to the authorized hunting license holder.
The incident highlights the routine involvement of fire services in wildlife rescues alongside their primary duties of fire suppression and technical assistance.
