Cellnex adds former Telefónica CFO Laura Abasolo to board for GIC

Cellnex Telecom announced the appointment of Laura Abasolo, former chief finance officer of Telefónica, as a new director on its board. She will represent GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, which holds a 7 % stake in Cellnex, and will also join the Capital Allocation Committee. Abasolo replaces Alexandra Reich, whose five‑year term ended. The move is intended to strengthen the board’s financial and operational expertise as the company consolidates its European telecom‑tower assets.

Abasolo brings more than 30 years of experience in finance, strategy and operations, including over 26 years at Telefónica, where she oversaw budgeting, capital allocation, balance‑sheet management and the divestment of Latin‑American subsidiaries. She holds an MBA from the Norwegian School of Economics and an economics degree from the University of Deusto, and has previously served on the boards of Virgin Media O2, Telefónica Deutschland, Telefónica Chile and Acerinox.
