Cellnex Poland partners with Ericsson for tower infrastructure upgrade

Cellnex Poland is partnering with Ericsson to upgrade its tower infrastructure, which supports mobile services for the Polish operator Plus (Polkomtel). The deployment includes radios, RAN compute modules, microwave links, antennas, and enclosures.

The upgrade utilizes Ericsson Silicon technology to achieve higher performance with lower energy consumption and a reduced physical footprint. This modernization aims to increase network coverage, transmission speeds, and reliability in both urban and rural areas while reducing the physical load on towers.

Key technical implementations include the MINI-LINK 6356 high-power microwave link operating in the E-band and the Ericsson Transport Automation Controller, which uses AI-based automation for microwave network management. Additionally, the dual-band TDD Massive MIMO AIR 3229 radio module will be deployed to support 5G densification by combining C-band and 2600 MHz TDD services in a single device.
