Celltrion secures leading market shares for biosimilars in Asia
Celltrion has achieved dominant market shares for its autoimmune and oncology biosimilar products across several key Asian markets, according to data from market research firm IQVIA for the first quarter of 2024.
The company’s autoimmune treatment, Remsima (infliximab), secured the top market position in Singapore (93%), Hong Kong (84%), Thailand (78%), and Malaysia (72%). In the oncology sector, Truxima (rituximab) ranked first in Singapore (93%) and Thailand (78%), while Herzuma (trastuzumab) maintained leading positions in Malaysia (51%) and Thailand (42%). Notably, the colorectal and breast cancer treatment Vegelma (bevacizumab) rose from fourth place in Malaysia in late 2023 to first place with a 30% market share in the first quarter of 2024.
Celltrion attributes this growth to its direct sales networks through local subsidiaries, which ensure supply stability and build trust with medical institutions in tender-based markets. The company plans to expand its portfolio in the second half of the year by launching Omlyclo and Stovoclo-Osenvelt in Thailand, as well as Stekima in Malaysia and Singapore.
