Celso Freitas recalls career highlights at Clube Esportivo

Former footballer Celso Freitas has shared reflections on his nine-year tenure at Clube Esportivo, specifically regarding his time at the Estádio da Montanha.

Freitas, a midfielder who played for Grêmio and Internacional earlier in his career, highlighted significant milestones during his time in the Serra Gaúcha region starting in 1976. His career highlights include participating in the historic ‘Jogo da Neve’ in 1979 and helping the team achieve a runner-up position in the Campeonato Gaúcho.

During his tenure, Freitas played alongside notable figures such as Tite and Renato Portaluppi under the guidance of coach Valdir Espinosa. He expressed nostalgia for the atmosphere of the Estádio da Montanha and noted that plans to expand the stadium's infrastructure were discussed in the early 1980s.
