Celta Vigo rejects Nottingham Forest bid for Javi Rueda

Celta Vigo has rejected a transfer bid from Premier League side Nottingham Forest for defender Javi Rueda. Despite Forest's interest and a potential salary package significantly higher than his current earnings, the Spanish club has opted to retain the player to maintain squad strength.

Celta manager Claudio Giráldez expressed strong opposition to the sale, describing it as a ‘bad sale’ based on the reported financial figures. Giráldez emphasized Rueda’s importance to the team and the difficulty of finding a suitable replacement so close to the transfer deadline. To secure his future, Celta is reportedly offering Rueda an improved contract.

The potential transfer had been linked to a fee of approximately 15 to 20 million euros, a deal that would have seen Celta and Real Madrid split the proceeds. While the move did not materialize, the interest highlighted the market value of the 24-year-old defender.
