Celta de Vigo players Manu Fernández and Matías Vecino depart club

Celta de Vigo is undergoing roster changes ahead of the new season, involving the departures of Manu Fernández and Matías Vecino.

Manu Fernández is transferring to Cádiz CF on a three-season deal. The agreement includes a buy-back option for Celta, allowing them to reacquire the defender at the end of the current season or during the 2027/2028 campaign. Fernández, a product of Celta’s youth academy, previously made 14 appearances in Primera División and three in the Europa League.

Additionally, Uruguayan midfielder Matías Vecino has reached a mutual agreement with Celta to terminate his contract, which was originally set to run until June 2027. Vecino, 35, cited physical issues encountered during pre-season as a factor in his departure. He expressed gratitude to the club and staff following his seven-month tenure in Vigo.
