Celta Vigo faces injury challenges ahead of Elche match

Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giráldez is working to recover key players following a difficult period of injuries during the international break. The squad has been impacted by the absences of Miguel Román, Carl Starfelt, Jones El-Abdellaoui, and Andrés Antañón.

Uruguayan defender Sebastian Cáceres is expected to receive medical clearance to travel to Elche for the upcoming match. After experiencing discomfort while with his national team, Cáceres has returned to normal training at Cidade Deportiva Afouteza. His availability is considered crucial given Starfelt's projected six-week absence.

Giráldez expressed dissatisfaction with the current two-week FIFA international break format, suggesting that either a shorter break or a full month would be more beneficial for club preparation. Despite the injury setbacks, the manager has access to 23 players, including international players such as Ionut Radu, Altay Bayindir, Williot Swedberg, and Ilaix Moriba.
