While initial treatments to eradicate the disease appeared successful, recent high temperatures in Galicia caused an unexpected regression in the grass condition, rendering the surface unsuitable for professional play.

La Liga has rescheduled the fixture for Thursday, August 27, at 20:30. This decision has caused significant friction, as Osasuna expressed strong disagreement with the new date. The club stated that both teams had previously reached an agreement to move the match to the September international break to avoid scheduling congestion, but claimed La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) acted unilaterally.

In response to the emergency, Celta Vigo has begun the urgent process of removing the damaged turf to install a new pitch. The club has confirmed that all tickets previously purchased for the original match remain valid for the rescheduled date.
