Celtic close to £2.5 m signing of Qarabag striker Camilo Duran

Celtic are on the verge of completing their first summer signing, a deal to bring 24‑year‑old Colombian striker Camilo Duran from Azerbaijan’s Qarabag. The clubs are negotiating a fee of around £2.5 million after an initial £1.7 million offer with add‑ons was rejected.

Duran arrived at Qarabag last summer for under £200,000 and last season recorded 15 goals and 10 assists in 48 games, including five Champions League goals against clubs such as Benfica, Ajax, Newcastle United and Eintracht Frankfurt. His arrival would address Celtic’s reduced striking options following the departure of Kelechi Iheanacho and the return of loan players to their parent clubs.

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill sees the striker as a value‑driven recruitment that adds European experience ahead of the new campaign, while the club also monitors other targets for forward and goalkeeper positions.
