Martin O'Neill confirms another season as Celtic manager, club faces recruitment overhaul

Celtic has confirmed that 74‑year‑old Martin O'Neill will remain as permanent manager for at least one more season after guiding the club to a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double as interim boss. The decision, made in talks with major shareholder Dermot Desmond, was welcomed by former players Chris Sutton and John Hartson, who praised O'Neill’s achievements but warned that the club must back him with a clear recruitment plan. Sutton highlighted that up to 18 players could depart this summer and urged the board to appoint a head of football operations and strengthen the scouting team before the Champions League qualifiers begin in August. Both former internationals stressed that O'Neill cannot be expected to replicate a rescue job without substantial support from the hierarchy.
