Celtic face Rangers in cup clash amid police warnings
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has addressed several key developments ahead of the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against Rangers at Ibrox. O’Neill dismissed concerns regarding midfielder Mika Baur, confirming the German player is fine following a minor knock and will be available for training.
Regarding squad management, O’Neill admitted the club may not have the luxury of resting forward Camilo Durán despite recent fatigue, noting the importance of league fixtures. He also stated that the decision regarding the starting goalkeeper between Sam Johnstone and Viljami Sinisalo remains undecided.
Ahead of the high-stakes fixture, Police Scotland held a meeting with Celtic to issue a ‘general behaviour’ warning. Due to a previous ticket allocation dispute and fan disorder during a March encounter, Celtic fans will not be permitted to attend the match at Ibrox. Additionally, both clubs have been ordered to play their next home Scottish Cup matches behind closed doors and must pay £100,000 in compensation to their respective away opponents.
