Celtic faces coaching staff decisions as O'Neill prepares new season

Martin O'Neill has been confirmed as Celtic manager for another season, but the club has not yet settled the contracts of his assistants Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham. Their future, along with first‑team coach Gavin Strachan – who is reported to be in talks with West Bromwich Albion – remains uncertain as the summer transfer window opens and pre‑season preparations begin.

Former Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain said the decisions should be left to O'Neill, adding: “I think they should leave it up to Martin to make the decision on who he wants to work with… I think you’ll see them.”

Defender Cameron Carter‑Vickers, who missed the end of last season with an Achilles injury, has returned to training. His comeback is being hailed as a major boost for the defence. Former player Jackie McNamara said: “He was a big miss… having him back will improve the balance at the back.”
