Celtic FC and LASK unveil kit updates ahead of Champions League play-off
During a UEFA Champions League play-off match against Austrian club LASK, Celtic FC wore a modified version of their 2026-27 home kit crest. While their standard domestic and retail kits feature an elaborate design commemorating the 60th anniversary of the ‘Lisbon Lions’—including the Portuguese text ‘60º ANIVERSÁRIO’ and decorative laurel elements—the version used in the European match was stripped down to a standard circular crest with a single gold star.
UEFA regulations allow for special commemorative emblems provided they meet specific size requirements and receive prior administrative approval. The use of the simplified crest suggests a potential administrative delay or a decision to use the standard emblem for compliance.
In preparation for the same Champions League play-off fixture, LASK and Adidas unveiled a special ‘European away kit’ for the 2026-27 season. The kit is primarily red with gold applications for the club crest and Adidas logo, featuring white piping and subtle vertical stripes. LASK also introduced European versions of its home and away kits, which maintain the same design but feature fewer sponsors.
