Celtic face transfer bids for Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill confirmed that Everton have been in contact about right‑back Alistair Johnston. No formal offer has been disclosed, and Johnston remains under contract with Celtic until 2029, giving the club a strong negotiating position. O’Neill said any bid so far has not met Celtic’s valuation for the player.
West Ham United are the leading suitor for Belgian midfielder Arne Engels. The London club has made a bid that Celtic rejected as below the club’s asking price. Celtic are seeking a £25 million fee for Engels, who has two years left on his contract. Nottingham Forest previously offered £25 million, which was also turned down. Other clubs, including Fulham, Sunderland and several Serie A sides such as AC Milan, Lazio and Roma, have been linked with the midfielder.
