Celtic Faces Transfer Turmoil Ahead of Title Defense

Cillian Sheridan criticised Celtic’s recruitment structure, noting the absence of a head of recruitment and comparing the club unfavourably with rivals such as Rangers and Motherwell. Negotiations with German side SC Paderborn over Baur have stalled, with the Bundesliga club demanding a €5 million fee despite the player’s desire to move to Glasgow. Celtic have reportedly offered €3.5 million plus bonuses.

The unrest has spilled into the pre‑season, with supporters boycotting recent friendlies, resulting in many empty seats at the Celtic‑AC Milan match on 25 July. The club’s management, led by Martin O’Neill, faces pressure to complete signings before the Premiership title defence begins.
