Celtic FC prepares for January transfer window amid performance concerns
Celtic FC leadership has confirmed a dedicated budget for the January transfer window to address squad weaknesses. During a supporters' club meeting, president Joe Clark and chief executive Michael Nicholson acknowledged the need for reinforcements, noting that a four-man scouting panel provides recommendations to manager Martin O’Neill, who retains final decision-making authority.
The club faces scrutiny following inconsistent form, having won only three of their last ten matches in all competitions despite sitting top of the Scottish Premiership. Defensive instability has been a primary concern, with the team conceding 17 goals across nine fixtures and struggling to maintain clean sheets.
In European competition, Celtic’s Europa League campaign has seen losses to Ferencváros, Benfica, and Celta Vigo. However, the team recently secured a victory against Besiktas, highlighted by goals from Callum Osmand and Camilo Duran. Despite the win, former player Stiliyan Petrov cautioned that the team must improve their starting lineups to avoid being punished by higher-quality opponents.
