Celtic FC targets Hajduk Split midfielder Niko Sigur
Celtic FC is reportedly monitoring Hajduk Split midfielder Niko Sigur for a potential transfer. According to reports, Celtic director Michael Nicholson may soon initiate discussions with the Croatian club regarding the 22-year-old Canadian international.
Sigur, who has spent his professional career at Poljud, is valued at approximately 4 to 5 million euros. His versatility allows him to play as a defensive or central midfielder, as well as a right-back. The transfer comes as Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers seeks to strengthen the midfield, particularly amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Arne Engels.
Hajduk Split may be open to the sale to meet financial targets, aiming to collect around 10 million euros from transfers by the end of the year. Sigur recently received praise from Canadian national team coach Jesse Marsch, who described him as the ‘best Canadian player on the pitch’ during a World Cup match against Morocco.
