Celtic steps up pursuit of Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan with €8 million offer

Celtic FC have raised their bid for Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan to about €8 million (£6.8 million) after the Spanish club rejected an initial €3.4 million offer. The 24‑year‑old, who impressed for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup – notably against Argentina – is seen as a key target to boost Celtic’s attacking options. Oviedo’s relegation to the Spanish second tier has lowered Hassan’s release clause from £16 million to £10 million, making the deal financially attractive for the Scottish champions.

Oviedo turned down Celtic’s first €4 million bid, noting that after a 40 % sell‑on clause held by former club Villarreal, the club would net roughly €2.4 million. Analysts suggest a successful offer in the €6‑7 million range would provide Oviedo with meaningful funds for its rebuild. Besides Celtic, Turkish side Trabzonspor and Egyptian giants Al Ahly have also been linked with the player.

Celtic’s transfer activity this window also includes the signing of striker Camilo Duran on a five‑year, £6 million deal and ongoing interest in other targets such as Hibs midfielder Josh Mulligan and former Celtic forward Kelechi Iheanacho, indicating a broader squad‑strengthening strategy under manager Martin O’Neill.
