Celtic eyes new signings and faces Sporting Lisbon in Algarve pre‑season friendly
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill is reported to be negotiating a new contract for forward Kelechi Iheanacho, while the club has prepared an €8 million bid for Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan, who is owned by Spanish side Real Oviedo. The proposed four‑year deal would add depth to Celtic’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
On July 14 the Scottish champions will meet Sporting Lisbon at the Estádio Algarve in a pre‑season friendly. Kick‑off is scheduled for 5:30 pm UK time, with a live stream available on CelticPlayer for subscribers in the UK, Ireland and abroad. The match follows a 1–1 draw with Shelbourne in Dublin and will be Celtic’s last warm‑up before returning to Glasgow for a game against Middlesbrough. New signing Camilo Duran is expected to make an unofficial debut after missing recent training, and Greek forward Ioannidis is set to feature after recovering from a knee injury.
The fixture provides a platform for the incoming players to integrate and for O’Neill to assess his squad ahead of the Champions League qualifying campaign.
