Celtic FC near signing Colombian striker Camilo Duran
Manager Martin O'Neill confirmed that Colombian forward Camilo Duran is in the final stages of a medical ahead of a projected £6 million transfer from Azerbaijani club Qarabag. The 24‑year‑old, who scored five goals in the Champions League last season, previously played in Portugal after rising through Independiente Medellín’s youth system.
O'Neill also said the club is pursuing several other options. Former Celtic striker Kelechi Iheanacho is in talks to return on a free transfer, while former loanee Marcelo Saracchi is being courted after a loan bid was rejected by Boca Juniors. Young forward Johnny Kenny remains sidelined with a knee injury, and Celtic are looking to add another goalkeeper to compete with Viljami Sinisalo following Kasper Schmeichel’s retirement.
The pre‑season training camp in Portugal and a friendly against Shelbourne in Dublin will provide the new signings an opportunity to integrate before the new Scottish Premiership campaign begins.
