Celtics explore trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown at center

NBA trade speculation has focused on the Boston Celtics seeking to acquire two‑time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. Analysts say the Celtics would likely need to part with star guard Jaylen Brown, whose $57 million contract and $285 million deal make him a costly asset. The Bucks are reportedly shopping Brown and looking for a third team to absorb salary and provide draft assets. Proposed three‑team scenarios include sending Brown to the Miami Heat while Boston receives Antetokounmpo, or routing Brown to the Portland Trail Blazers, Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans or other interested clubs in exchange for players, prospects and multiple future first‑round picks.

Other rumors suggest the Celtics may also consider secondary targets such as Atlanta’s Onyeka Okongwu if a Giannis deal does not materialise. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have indicated willingness to trade forward Trey Murphy III, and the Bucks are monitoring several potential trade partners to maximise draft capital and manage contracts. The discussions highlight the complexity of matching salaries under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement and the uncertainty surrounding any concrete deal before the offseason begins.
