Cem Yılmaz hospitalized after heart attack in Çanakkale
Turkish comedian Cem Yılmaz was hospitalized in Çanakkale after experiencing severe chest and back pain. Following an initial assessment at Ayvacık State Hospital, he was transferred to Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Hospital, where doctors performed an angiography and successfully applied a balloon and stent to a blocked artery. Yılmaz has since been discharged to recover with his family.
Yılmaz’s medical emergency has sparked widespread discussion regarding “Frank’s sign” (diagonal earlobe crease), a physical mark on the earlobe that some medical studies have linked to coronary artery disease and cardiovascular risks. Medical experts clarified that while the crease may correlate with vascular changes or aging, it is not a definitive diagnostic tool for a heart attack on its own. Doctors emphasized that individuals should focus on more significant risk factors such as high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, and smoking.
Additionally, medical professionals highlighted the role of chronic inflammation as a potential driver for early-onset cardiovascular issues in younger populations. They advised that anyone noticing the sign, especially when combined with other risk factors, should consult a physician for a cardiovascular screening.
