Cem Özdemir warns against Red-Red-Green coalition at Green Party convention

At the Green Party convention in Offenburg, Minister-President Cem Özdemir addressed the party's future direction and potential political alliances. Özdemir emphasized the significant challenges facing both the party and the state government, stating, “We must show that the history of the Federal Republic of Germany is not finished being told.”

Özdemir issued a strong warning against the formation of a Red-Red-Green coalition in Berlin, advising the Berlin state association to avoid such an alliance. He remarked, “Dear friends in Berlin, do not make yourselves unhappy, keep your hands off them. There is no blessing in such an alliance with such people.”

Furthermore, Özdemir addressed the necessity of recognizing the state of Israel within internationally recognized borders, asserting that those who cannot accept this should not be near power in Germany. He also distinguished between the far-right AfD and the Left Party, arguing against equating the two, which he suggested would downplay the extremism of the AfD.
